Orcs Must Die 2

Co-op Friendly

Each player has to have their own copy of the game, you then can invite each other to play together and select a level to play. Aside for no local/remote play together the co-op is very well done and easy to use. You can plan how you want to lay out the dungeon together and how to tackle different scenarios.

Fun

Coordinating with your teammate and communicating while orcs are coming at you leads to lots of fun and funny moments. You get to play off each other and feels rewarding.

Difficulty

The game itself is not very difficult, but you can not just assume you are going to beat every level. You have to communicate and plan, and focus the required mobs, as well as pay attention to all the tracks highlighted at the beginning of the level to make sure some mobs do not just slip by…especially the flying ones.

Engaging

Diversity of mobs keep you planning out your next move and switching with your teammate depending on how each of you are built or traps you had planned on your lane. The game play feels fluid and rewarding, the different traps allow you to play different style and some funny interactions can occur.

Family Friendly

Their is mild blood when mobs are attacked, it does not pool or stay on screen more just a splash from getting hit. Other then that the interactions have a cartoon feel nothing to realistic or gory.

Casual

The game controls are very intuitive and since you select a level right when start it makes it easy to pick up whenever complete a level or two stop and then pick up whenever. The lower difficulty also makes it easy to get right back into without having to real warm up or get re acquainted.

What we liked

Orcs must die 2 is very user friendly in every sense of the game. The UI is super beginner friendly and allows people to play co-op with ease. Traps and utilities have set areas to be put in and are very smooth to maneuver. I love the incorporation of 3rd person shooting with tower defense, feels unbelievably smooth.

What we would change

Although this game was fun and worked very well. I wouldn’t say it is meant for intermediate gamers. The game will go fairly quickly if you have casual experiences with these game types. Furthermore, the game is very limiting and doesn’t allow for much skill to be applied. The traps for example have to be put in set places and can’t be in unique positions for more interesting game play. Moreover, the game feels like it is missing a lot of content with few classes, enemy types, difficulty range and the lack of ability to mod.

What made it unique

It may have been unique in the past with it being one of the first 3rd person shooter that merged with tower defense. But that is longer the case and nothing really makes it stand out from other games in this genre.
